Washington, DC— This Friday, April 29, the D. C. Department on Disability Services will host a Provider Resource Fair to connect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to various supports and services that will help them achieve vibrant and productive lifestyles. The fair will be held at the R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center, 2730 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue on the St. Elizabeth’s campus from 10 am until 6 pm.
Representatives from an array of government, non-government, and social service organizations will be on hand to address the needs and interests of participants to foster true community inclusion and integration for people with disabilities. The event includes entertainment and practical information sessions about benefits, employment, and health and wellness.
An estimated 4.7 million Americans have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including approximately 9,600 residents of the District of Columbia.
