MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s Center for Ethics (CFE) Third Annual Regional Clinical Ethics Symposium is a one day bioethics conference for physicians, clinicians, academics, nurses, social workers, ethics committee members, healthcare administrators, and all manner of medicine and humanities professionals and community members dedicated to clinical bioethics in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. The topic of this year’s gathering surrounds new research and improved mechanisms for the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care, and addresses the need for distinct approaches to such care in certain vulnerable patient populations, viz. those in an intensive care unit, and those with severe intellectual disabilities.
