The Department on Disability Services will present findings of the Comprehensive Statewide Needs Assessment this Friday, December 19, 1 pm, at 1125 15th Street, NW. Representatives from San Diego State University’s Interwork Institute will be onsite to review findings and recommendations for reaching underserved populations in the District of Columbia that that could benefit from RSA services.
The Comprehensive Needs Assessment is conducted every three years to identify the rehabilitation needs of individuals with disabilities within the District of Columbia, particularly the Vocational Rehabilitation (“VR”) and Independent Living (“IL”) service needs, as mandated in section 101 (a) (15) of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and 34 C.F.R. §§ 361.29, 364.20, 364.32, and 364.42. This year, RSA/DDS conducted its assessment over a seven-month period, facilitating 20 focus groups and gathering data from more than with 300 surveys completed by providers, consumers, RSA staff and representatives from area businesses.
The Interwork Institute has extensive experience in performing needs assessments and consultation services to Vocational Rehab agencies across the country. Friday’s session will be facilitated by Chaz Compton, Ed.D. For more information, contact Dan Dougherty.
